Tournament Information
Tournaments are an opportunity for our archers to take their archery skills outside of our practices. Archery tournaments have three Divisions - Elementary (4th & 5th graders) Middle School & High School. Ohio County Schools provides a bus to and from our out of town tournaments. The bus picks up and drops off our archers at BSMS. Parents are encouraged to follow our travel updates on our Team Reach App. NASP Archery hosts State, National & a World Championship Tournament. Archers must QUALIFY to participate in the WV State Bullseye Tournament to be held on March 28, 2025. To qualify archers have from now until February 21, 2026 to shoot their highest score. I will submit our archers highest scores to the state office on Monday, February 23. We will know by Friday, February 27 which of our archers qualified for the WV State Bullseye Tournament.
We have worked hard with local schools to help them start their own archery team. This year we will not have to travel as far as the previous years to compete in a tournament. At tournaments archers shoot in flights, similar to our Sunday practice schedule. Archers shoot 40 arrows. Only 30 arrows are scored. It takes archers usually 45 minutes to shoot their 40 arrows during their flight. Once the archer has completed shooting their arrows and signed their scorecard they are free to leave with their parents. Archers that ride the bus must sign out with a coach before leaving with their parents. Most tournaments handout awards to the TOP 3 to 5 Male archers and Female archers in each division. Some tournaments have a TOP SHOT award for each Division as well as an overall Tournament TOP SHOT Award. Most tournaments do NOT allow archers to wear BOOTS on their gym floor. We ask our archers to wear tennis shoes instead of boots. We have a school shirt and hoodie for our OCA archers to wear to competitions.
Archers can earn Pins for the following accomplishments:

Basic Archery Season Information
Archery season starts in October and can run until the end of April. Some archers will stop in March or April to participate in Spring Activities. Archers can start and stop when ever they want it is never to late to start shooting archery with us. During the summer we provide archery opportunities at Oglebay Park's Camp Russell as well as host an Outdoor Adventure Camp in July at BSMS. If we have room at our practices siblings and parents are always welcome to shoot with their archer. We have plenty of Genesis Bows and Easton 1820 Arrows so archery is always FREE to come practice with us. We offer one hour archery classes at Bridge Street Middle on Sunday afternoon's as well as Tuesday/Thursday evening practice opportunities at West Liberty Elementary. Practices are NOT required to participate. We do encourage archers to participate in at least one of our one hour classes each week.
